North West Electrification Phase 1

The project was the first phase of the £400m North West Electrification Programme and will see over 350km of track upgraded across North West England.

Project scope

With the installation of new infrastructure between Newton-le-Willows and Castlefield Junction, electric trains will be able to operate between Manchester Airport and Scotland.

MSD carried out the installation of approximately 7,000m of twin C/1/10 GRP & Concrete routes and Platform ducted routes at Earlstown and Newton Le Willows Stations
